A simple pensione-cum-hostel near the Vatican that is very popular with the backpacking crowd: book well in advance: Dorm beds euros 18-20 in a triple.
YWCA

Though only open to women, this is conveniently situated just ten minutes’ walk from Termini. A range of singles to quadruples. Singles euros 47 with bath, euros 37 without; doubles euros 74 with bath and euros 62 without. All room include breakfast expect Sun morning and August, Midnight curfew.
